Past Life Regression Without Hypnosis
Most past life regression puts you under. This does not. The Soul Detective method uses muscle testing rather than trance, so you stay awake, aware and in control for the whole two hours. You are not observing your past lives. You are releasing what is still held there.
The Session
What happens across two hours
The most common question is what it will actually feel like. Step through it.
Step One of Four
You stay awake
Nothing about this session involves being put under. There is no hypnosis and no trance state, which is the single biggest difference between the Soul Detective method and traditional past life regression. You are conscious, present and able to stop at any point.

The Method
Developed by a psychologist, not a mystic
Soul Detective is a form of past life regression therapy developed by holistic psychologist Barbara Stone. It combines traditional past life regression with cognitive behavioral therapy techniques and energy psychology.
The premise is that trauma is not only a psychological issue but a spiritual one, and that soul wounds can be carried across lifetimes. Addressing them at that level is what the method is built to do.
The aim is releasing energetic blockages and unresolved emotions from past lives that may still be shaping the current one. Not simply viewing them, but letting go of them. More on the method is at souldetective.net.
What It Reaches
- Current life patterns whose origin does not seem to sit in this life
- Unresolved emotional pain affecting mental and physical health
- Insight into why a challenge keeps presenting the same way
- A sense of peace and closure, which is what most people report afterwards
- Physical release in some cases, as held emotion clears
The Difference
Traditional regression, and this
Traditional Past Life Regression
You go under
- Uses hypnosis or a trance state to reach past life material
- You are guided into an altered state of consciousness
- The focus is largely on retrieving and observing memories
- Recall of the session varies from person to person
The Soul Detective Method
You stay present
- No hypnosis and no trance. You remain fully conscious
- Uses muscle testing, a kinesiology technique, to access the subconscious
- The focus is on releasing what is found, not only seeing it
- Draws on cognitive behavioral technique and energy psychology

Soul Detective Session
2 hours
The two hours covers the session itself and the discussion afterwards. That conversation is part of the work rather than an add on, which is why this runs longer than anything else at the practice.
Who Books This
Usually people who have already tried the obvious things
Past life regression is rarely a first appointment. Most people arrive after energy work has cleared what it can, or after therapy has named a pattern without shifting it, and the thing they are carrying still has not moved.
That is the point at which the framework tends to land, because it describes something people already half suspect: that what they are dealing with is older than the situation that triggered it.
If you have never done any of this before, start with Reiki or Integrated Energy Therapy. Two hours and $175 is a lot to commit to as a first experiment.
Before You Book
- Two hours is the real commitment, so plan the day around it
- No belief required in past lives to find the session useful
- Not therapy and not a substitute for mental health care
- Nothing is forced. You stay conscious and can stop at any point

Questions
Frequently asked questions
No. This is the main thing that distinguishes the Soul Detective method. There is no hypnosis and no trance state at any point. You stay awake, aware and in control throughout, which is why people who would never consider being put under still book this.
Muscle testing is a kinesiology technique used to access information from the subconscious mind. Rene asks specific questions about past lives while holding one of your muscles, and the response in that muscle indicates the answer. It replaces the trance state that traditional regression relies on.
No. Plenty of clients arrive uncertain and find the session useful anyway, because what surfaces tends to be recognisable regardless of how you interpret where it came from. Treat the framework as a way into the material rather than something you must sign up to.
A sense of peace and closure is the most commonly reported outcome. Some people also describe physical release as held emotion clears. Because the session runs two hours and includes the discussion, most people leave having processed it rather than needing to sit with it alone.
No. Although the method draws on cognitive behavioral techniques and was developed by a psychologist, this is not psychotherapy and not a substitute for mental health care. If you are working with a therapist or a doctor, keep doing that and mention it before the session.
Usually not. Two hours and $175 is a significant first commitment. Reiki at sixty minutes is the more common entry point, and plenty of people arrive at regression later through that route.

Review it, then release it
Reviewing your past lives is only half of it. The point is letting go of what is still held there so it stops shaping this one. Call and describe what keeps coming back, and Rene will tell you whether this is the right session.
