Reiki Healing Sessions

Reiki healing is the most common first appointment at 5 Elements Energy, and the easiest place to start if you have never tried energy work. You stay fully clothed, you do not have to believe in anything, and nothing is asked of you but to lie down.

What It Is

A light touch practice, not a treatment you have to brace for

Reiki is a Japanese practice in which the practitioner channels energy through their hands, either resting lightly on the body or held just above it. The aim is to restore the balance of the body's own life force energy, sometimes called ki or chi.

In practice it means a practitioner scanning the energy field with their hands for areas where energy reads as depleted or excessive, then spending the session directing flow to even it out. You are lying on a treatment table, fully clothed, with soft music playing.

It is not tied to any religion or belief system. It is not a replacement for medical care, and it sits comfortably alongside it. People who arrive skeptical are common and welcome.

The Research

What the evidence points to

A 2023 study published in the Journal of Perianesthesia Nursing found that Reiki engages the parasympathetic nervous system, the branch responsible for rest and recovery rather than alertness and threat.

Activating it was associated with reduced cortisol and lower perceived stress, consistent with earlier work in the same area. That mechanism, relaxation and comfort by way of the nervous system, is the part with the clearest support behind it.

Reiki does not claim to cure disease, and neither do we. What most clients describe afterwards is a nervous system that has finally stopped running at full volume.

Your Session

What a session with Rene looks like

Sixty minutes, tailored to you rather than run to a script.

01

We talk first

Before anything begins, Rene asks what brought you in and what you are hoping for. That conversation decides where the session focuses.

02

Forty minutes of work

You stay fully clothed on the table. Rene works intuitively to locate where energy is blocked, often around areas holding pain or discomfort, with soft music throughout.

03

Time to come back

The session closes with quiet minutes to rest and absorb before you sit up. Most people do not want to talk straight away, and that is expected.

04

What to do next

Rene offers ways to carry it forward at home, whether that is meditation, mindfulness, or small shifts in daily habits.

Who You Are Booking

Twenty years inside a holistic clinic before she ever practiced

Rene D'Antona spent over two decades within The Balance Health and Wellness Center, first as a teacher and later as its Insurance Manager, watching acupuncture, massage, and Reiki work on people every day. She was a patient there before she was a practitioner.

She trained in Reiki and Integrated Energy Therapy after her own experience with chronic pain, migraines, and a fertility journey that holistic care carried her through.

Clients travel to the Lindenhurst office from across the Town of Babylon and the South Shore.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

You lie on a treatment table, fully clothed, though sessions can also be given seated or standing. Rene places her hands on or just above the body in a series of positions, typically around the head and shoulders, the stomach, and the feet, holding each for several minutes depending on what that area seems to need. A full treatment runs between forty five and ninety minutes.

No, and you should not. Reiki works alongside medical and psychological care rather than replacing it. If you have a medical or mental health condition, keep seeing your licensed provider. Reiki is intended to sit beside that care, not substitute for it.

Comfortable clothes you can relax in, and layers are useful since people run warm or cold on the table. Remove belts and bulky items before you start. If you are coming straight from work and want to change, call ahead so the office can make space for it.

It varies more than people expect. Some feel warmth, some coolness, some a light vibration. Some fall asleep. Some cry without quite knowing why. Some feel very little during the session and notice the difference hours later. None of those responses is the wrong one.

Most people leave relaxed and lifted. Occasionally someone feels tired, headachy, or a little off for a day afterwards. If that happens, drink more water, eat lightly, and rest. It usually passes quickly.

It depends entirely on what you are working with. Sometimes one session settles it. More often people notice a pattern building across several. Four sessions is a reasonable window to judge whether it is doing something for you. Plenty of clients then keep coming periodically as maintenance rather than treatment, which is what the five session pack is built for.

Book online through the booking link, or call 631-888-9029 and the office will set it up with you. A $30 deposit is taken at booking and the balance is due at the appointment. Credit cards, cash, and Venmo are accepted, as are HSA and FSA payments, though it is worth confirming with your plan administrator that they allow Reiki.

Not in New York. Reiki is not regulated the way acupuncture and massage are, so insurers do not cover it. Acupuncture and massage may be covered, and those are provided through The Balance Health and Wellness Center at 631-225-2623, who can check your coverage and bill it properly if you have it.
