Private Meditation Training

Most people who quit meditating quit because nobody ever taught them how. The instruction is usually some version of clear your mind, which is not a technique, and when the mind refuses to clear the obvious conclusion is that you are bad at it. You are not. You were given the wrong instructions.

The Instructions

What you were told, and what actually helps

Four things most beginners are told that quietly guarantee they will give up. Select any card to turn it over.

You were told

Clear your mind and stop thinking.

Turn over

What actually helps

The mind produces thoughts. Noticing that it wandered is not the failure, it is the repetition.

You were told

You need twenty minutes for it to count.

Turn over

What actually helps

Two minutes done daily beats twenty minutes done occasionally. Frequency is what builds the thing.

You were told

Sit cross legged on the floor with a straight back.

Turn over

What actually helps

Position is negotiable. A chair is fine. Comfortable and awake is the whole requirement.

You were told

If it is working you will feel calm.

Turn over

What actually helps

Some sessions feel restless. That is not a sign it failed. The effect shows up between sessions, not during them.

What The Session Covers

Techniques, obstacles, and what to do at home

These are introductory sessions designed to teach you how to begin a practice, not to sit you in a room and hope something happens. Three things get covered every time.

The techniques themselves, so you have an actual method rather than an instruction to relax. The obstacles, named before you hit them, because knowing what is coming is most of what stops people quitting. And the tools you can reach for when you are practising alone at home and it is not going well.

Every session is paced to the individual. If you have tried before and stopped, that history is useful information rather than something to get past.

The Format

  • 45 to 60 minutes depending on how the session goes
  • One or two people, which is the maximum for the private format
  • $95 per session, whether that is one person or two
  • Paced to you rather than run to a fixed curriculum
  • Free exploration call available first if you want to discuss it

The Point

You are learning something to take away

This is the only service here designed to make itself unnecessary.

01

Where you are now

What you have tried, where it went wrong, and what you are hoping meditation will actually do. That conversation shapes everything after it.

02

The technique

Taught and practised in the room, so you leave having done it correctly at least once rather than reading about it afterwards.

03

The home practice

Tools you can reach for on your own, and a realistic idea of what the first few weeks will feel like so nothing catches you out.

Rate

What it costs

Private Session

$95

45 to 60 minutes, up to 2 people

The rate is per session rather than per person, so bringing someone costs nothing extra up to two. From three people it becomes a class, which works out considerably cheaper per head.

Who Teaches It

Someone who came to it the hard way

Rene D'Antona credits meditation, alongside Reiki and Integrated Energy Therapy, with closing the gap that physical treatment had not reached. It is one of three practices she names as having changed how she understood healing.

She teaches it starting from the assumption that you will find it difficult, because she did. That is a meaningfully different starting point from being told it should feel natural.

Sessions run from the Lindenhurst office, and clients travel in from across the Town of Babylon and the South Shore.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

That is the most common thing people say before booking, and it is almost always a technique problem rather than an aptitude problem. If the only instruction you ever got was to clear your mind, you were never actually taught. Being taught properly changes the experience for most people.

Yes. The private format takes up to two people and the rate is the same either way, so a partner or a friend costs nothing extra. From three people it becomes a group class at a lower rate per person.

These are introductory sessions, so one is often enough to get you started properly. What matters more is what happens between sessions, which is why so much of the time is spent on home practice rather than on meditating in the room.

A short call to talk through what you are looking for and which format suits, before you book anything. Useful if you are unsure whether a private session or a group class is the better fit, or whether meditation is the right thing at all.

No. The techniques taught are practical rather than devotional and are not tied to any tradition or belief system. What you do with the practice afterwards is entirely yours.

At the Lindenhurst office on North Wellwood Avenue, inside The Balance Health and Wellness Center. Group classes can also be held off site at your own location.

One session is usually enough to get you started with something that actually works. Book it, or take the free exploration call first if you would rather talk it through.
